Waste Management

Keeping Grover Court clean and tidy is down to all of us. If you see anti-social behaviour, please let us know by posting a message to the WhatsApp group.

Drains

Our drains and pumps regularly get blocked. The costs of clearing them comes back to us in our service charge bills. Please make an effort to keep them in good working order. Here are some tips:

  1. Do not dispose of cooking fat and food waste down the kitchen sink

  2. Do not dispose of baby wipes and sanitary products down the toilets

  3. Regularly clean your washing machine to minimise scale and soap scum

Fly Tipping

Please do not dump items anywhere on the estate. If you have items that others might want (like furniture), please post photos to the GC Neighbours WhatsApp group or advertise them on Facebook Marketplace (or a similar service).

The entrance to our estate, at the junction with Sunninghill Road, is a common fly tipping hot-spot. Please do help us all out by reporting, here, fly-tipping to the council. The more of us that report the fly-tipping, the faster the council will respond.

Special Collections

If you unable to take large items of rubbish (such as mattresses or furniture) to the council dump, you can request help from the council here.

Typically, we leave items for the council to pick up at the bottom of our private road, where it joins Sunninghill Road (which is also a fly-tipping hot-spot).

Please make sure everyone is aware (via WhatsApp or with a paper note on the rubbish) that the rubbish is for Special Collection and is not fly-tipping.

Blue Bins

The blue bins are for general rubbish (i.e. black bag rubbish). They are found beside the pedestrian gate onto Loampit Hill and, also, beside the garages which are near the railway line.

Please ensure that your items are properly loaded into the bin and so the lid can be closed. Please, also, try to put your rubbish in the emptiest bin; do not over-fill a bin.

Green Bins

Green bins are for materials that can be recycled. This includes metal, plastic, glass, paper, and cardboard. More detail can be found here on the council website.

The green bins are found at the end of our private road and near the garages.

Please do not leave materials beside the bins, and please remove any polystyrene and plastic packing materials and put them in a blue bin.

Rubbish Collection

Bins are collected on Friday mornings (except holiday periods).

The green bins are moved to the other end of the road, near the garages, the day before collection. They are returned to their usual location after collection.

Any help moving the bins is greatly appreciated.

Litter

We try to keep the estate as clean as possible. Littering encourages littering and rats, and so please pick up and dispose of any rubbish that you see. There are litter bins at various points on the estate.

Occassionally we get together to do a litter sweep. Much appreciated if you can lend a hand for twenty minutes. Watch out for announcements on the WhatsApp group.

Compost

There are compost bins behind the building. They are only for plant waste. Please do not over-fill them.
